Learn your way around the Create Makerspace textiles studio and go home with a tote bag! Participants will learn sewing terminology, sewing machine basics, measuring & cutting fabric, and choosing stitches. Great for sewers with little to no machine experience.𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗢𝗯𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀:
Tour of textiles space
Learn the names of tools & notions
Identifying grainline and right side/wrong side of fabric
Using a rotary cutter & mat to measure & cut fabric
Getting to know the sewing machine
Choosing the right stitch
Seam allowance
Backstitching + topstitching
Making and turning straps
Finishing your seams
Fabric & thread will be provided for participants.
