Learn to layer fabrics and 'draw' with a sewing machine to create a fabulous pet portrait! All materials and equipment provided.
About this Event

A fantastic course in which you will learn how to use a sewing machine in free-motion mode, combined with wonderful applique techniques to create a beautiful portrait of your pet!

We show you how to use different applique methods and how to use a sewing machine to 'draw'. After booking, we will contact you to ask for your pictures of your pet so we can print them to size for you ready for the session.

On the day of the session, we show you how to choose fabrics and layer to create a fabulous design. You will be guided in transferring your pet to fabric and learn how to use a sewing machine to 'draw' your design. Don't worry if you have not done much/any sewing before, this is a whole new way to stitch and full teaching and support is provided. No experience required. All materials and equipment are provided.

Don't have a pet? You can still join in and use some of our templates.

Sewing machines are provided, although you are welcome to bring your own machine (if using your own machine, it must have the function to 'drop the feed dogs' and come with an appropriate darning/free-motion foot. Please let us know at the time of booking if this is the case). Machines must be in good working order and have a recent PAT test certificate.

Holly will provide you with support and guidance throughout – even if you have never done anything like this before. Holly has been teaching for over 15 years and can help you to create an artwork to be proud of. Session run by Thread and Press CIC, a Community Interest Company.

Please bring a packed lunch. This is an adult course, although ages 14+ are welcome if accompanied by a booked adut (both must purchase a ticket)
