Artist bio:
I'm an enthusiastic and experienced textile artist and tutor, specialising in coiled basketry, spinning, natural dyes and weaving. I enjoy sharing my skills and knowledge about these crafts and I’m always learning more myself too. I particularly like the whole process of seeing a sheep in a field, watching it being sheared, sorting and deciding how to use the fleece. Spinning the fleece, picking something like blackberries or forsythia leaves to dye it with, then making it into something beautiful and useful.
I regularly teach textile-based workshops at a variety of places in the UK, particularly around South Yorkshire and Derbyshire. When I get the opportunity, I like to use my skills in a variety of creative and artistic ways creating 3D textile-based art pieces, making gifts for family and friends and occasionally having exhibitions to show my art.
I practice and promote the use of environmentally friendly resources and where possible use local and/or recycled materials.
