Overview of Course
In this short course, you will make your very own a blue bird themed collaged fabric art patch that will be attached to a bucket bag. In this short course, you will use a combination sewing machine methods and hand-crafted techniques to create your very own decorative bucket bag that can then be used to contain crafty bits.
What will I learn?
In this short course, you will be taught how to create blue bird themed fabric collage patch through free style sewing with your sewing machine and hand embroidery. You will then learn how to make the bucket bag and finally, attach the patch to a bucket bag for a decorative finish.
You will be given a blue bird themed template that will be a guide to create the fabric collaged patch. Then learn a fabric art method to build a collaged patch, using various hand dyed fabrics, embroidery thread, netting and reclaimed vintage lace. To create the patch, you will be using techniques such as applique, slow stitching and machine embroidery.
Then you will be given a pattern to create a bucket bag, taught how to build the bucket bag with step-by-step instructions on how to complete. In the process of making the bucket bag, you will be taught how to attach the patch created to the bucket bag adding a decorative element.
Who is the course for?
The short course is great for beginners and intermediate sewers who like using their sewing machine to try something new such as using textiles to create a decorative bucket bag.
Will I have to provide anything?
The tutor will provide a kit with materials needed to create the bucket bag.
You will need to bring your own sewing machine, ensuring the machine has an embroidery foot attachment as this will be needed to create free style sewing with the machine.
You can find an embroidery foot for a machine by searching on Amazon, key in the make of the sewing machine adding embroidery foot at the end of the sentence. Most brands of sewing machine will have their own make of embroidery foot. You will also need bring scissors, pencil and cream colour cotton reel for sewing on the machine.
The tutor does have two sewing machine that can be provide for the course, however these are booked by emailing the office at [email protected] ahead of booking your place on the course, and it would be on first come first served basis.
Am I ready to start?
By attending this short course, you will have learnt some tips and tricks that the tutor uses. Come along have a little crafty fun using your own sewing machine.
