Dallas’ Number One Soul Brother Bobby Patterson will take the stage at the Allen Public Library, 7:30, Friday, July 19. Free. Featured on National Public Radio and the Dallas Observer, Mr. Patterson’s local history dates back to his appearances on Ron Chapman’s popular teen television program Sump’N Else during the 1960s. Bobby is one of the few, if any, who has worked in every facet of the music business; singer, songwriter, composer, multi-instrumentalist, producer, promoter, label owner, and disc jockey.
Music critic Robert Wilonsky states, “Bobby Patterson, whose body is almost 70 and whose voice still needs an ID to buy a drink, sounds today just like he did in the mid-1960s, when he was Dallas’ No. 1 soul brother. The man isn’t tall, but he can still reach the notes on the top shelf without a ladder.”
Patterson worked as a DJ on the Dallas based radio station Soul Knocking KKDA 730 AM, until May 2012.
Patterson released a new album, I Got More Soul!, in July 2014.
Backing up Bobby will be the Longhorn R&B Revue Band.
