There’s a good chance folks who’ve lived in or visited the Charlottesville area over the past few decades have been to a Terri Allard show.
Could have been at her band’s sell-out album release concerts at Old Cabell Hall or The Jefferson Theater. Or maybe you caught the band playing to full crowds at Fridays After Five. There were shows at Trax, The Paramount, The Southern, the Nelson County Festival and good old Random Row. Maybe you heard Allard singing in her teens at a Four County Players concert or belting out, “Leaving on a Jet Plane” on an auditorium stage when she was 10. Heck, she even performed once in a grocery store.
There aren’t many stages in the area that she hasn’t played. Along with local performances, Allard spent several years touring the country, often with World Champion harmonica player Gary Green. She has performed on stages at the Philadelphia Folk Festival, the Kerrville Folk Festival, the Telluride Blue Grass Festival and the Rocky Mountain Folks Festival. Tours included shows at prestigious venues like The Bluebird Cafe, The Troubadour, The Birchmere and the North American Folk Alliance mainstage.
During her touring years, Allard recorded five albums of original material, won a few awards and opened for many of her heroes/heroines, including John Prine, Nanci Griffith, Roger McGuine, Mary Chapin Carpenter and John Hiatt.
Allard is bringing her 6-piece original band together for the Rivanna Roots show. Concert-goers can expect full-throttle renditions of her original Folk/Americana-flavored tunes, along with favorite covers from The Blasters, Johnny Cash and Richard Thompson.
Allard’s band consists of Gary Green (harmonica), Eddie Hall (drums), Sonny Layne (bass, vocals), Jeff Saine (lap steel, accordion, vocals) and Jim Taggart (guitar, mandolin, violin and vocals). Whether you’re dancing down memory lane or hearing the band for the first time, you won’t be disappointed!

Scuffletown with Matty Metcalfe have been shaking stages from Nashville to Dublin for longer than they care to admit. Their swampy, high-energy brand of Americana is tinged with influences from delta blues to modern alt-country (with just a touch of jazz, swing, zydeco and bluegrass thrown in for good measure), and their combination of acoustic guitar, steel slide, harmonica, flute and accordion rocks familiar songs as well as their acclaimed originals. The Trio has been performing and touring collectively for more than 20 years which includes a recent 2024 featured appearance at the prestigious Willie Clancy Festival in County Cork, Ireland.

It takes a village to make these magical concerts possible! A huge thank you to our sponsors: Sun Tribe, Martin Horn, NOLA Builds, The Nature Conservancy of Virginia, Alloy Architecture & Construction, Piedmont Paint & Finish, Bottle House, Woodard Properties, Mountaintop, Montessori, WNRN, and C-ville Weekly.
We'd also like to extend special thanks to Random Row Brewing Company, Potter’s Craft Cider, and Eastwood Farm and Winery, our exclusive beverage partners, and Hogwaller Brewing, our artist hospitality sponsor. Please support these local businesses – they’re passionate about our community, and we’re grateful to feature them at Rivanna Roots 2026!
