About this Event
Hello,
My name is Helen McCormick and I'm a local ceramic artist and teacher. I've been creating objects from clay for the past 28 years, and I still absolutely love the process. I am passionate about teaching and have created this workshop to share my skills, knowledge and experience with anyone who would like to have a go for the first time or to develop their skills further.
This workshop is designed to be a relaxed, friendly space where you can meet new people and have the opportunity to create, learn and have fun. Throughout the day you will learn how to hand-build your dragon sculpture from clay using traditional techniques. We will finish by learning how to add texture and details to your work, refining your masterpiece.
All materials and equipment will be provided. Tea and Coffee will be available throughout the workshop. The only thing you need to bring is a packed lunch and an apron or wear old clothes.
After the workshop, I will carefully take your sculpture home and fire it in my kiln. These sculptures are not glazed as the terracotta will age beautifully in your garden over time. Your sculpture will be ready to collect approximately 6 weeks after the workshop from the Walronds. I will let you know the date and time.
NB: I am happy to store your work for 6 months from the collection date, after which time your work will be donated to charity.
There is FREE parking at the Walronds. The carpark is located at the back of the building. To access the carpark you will need to turn up Tiverton Road off the High Street, and then turn left just before the fire station onto Shortlands Lane. It is a narrow lane and easily missed. Drive a few yards up the lane and you will see the sign for the carpark on the left. Turn left and follow the drive through the gate ahead. Here is a link to Google Maps which should take you right to the carpark entrance. https://goo.gl/maps/JKfioUFi3FCSnCHJ9
