Come get your hands dirty and create your own unique seed pod garden ornaments in this fun pottery workshop!Welcome to my Seed Pod Garden Ornament Pottery Workshop at The Walronds !
My name is Helen McCormick and I'm a local ceramic artist and qualified art and design teacher. I've been creating objects from clay for the past 28 years, and I still absolutely love the process. I am passionate about teaching and have created this workshop to share my skills, knowledge and experience with anyone who would like to have a go for the first time or to develop their skills further.
Join me for a fun and creative session where you can learn to make beautiful garden ornaments inspired by nature's seed pods. This in-person event will guide you through the pottery-making process, from shaping the clay to adding intricate details. Whether you're a beginner or have experience with pottery, this workshop is perfect for anyone looking to unleash their artistic side.
During the morning you will learn how to create your beautiful ornaments using traditional hand-building techniques. You will make 3 in total. In the afternoon you will learn how to apply glaze to your work. This process is called raw glazing, which means your work will only need to be fired once in the kiln, which reduces electricity used and helps the environment.
All materials and equipment will be provided, including 3 metal rods of varying heights. Tea and Coffee will be available throughout the day. The only thing you need to bring is a packed lunch and an apron or wear old clothes.
After the workshop, I will carefully take your ornaments home and fire them in my kiln. Your beautiful creations will be ready for collection 6 weeks after the workshop finishes from the Walronds, dependent on how quickly the clay dries out. I will let you know the time and date.
NB: I am happy to store your work for 6 months from the collection date, after which time your work will be donated to charity.
