Our Saturday Saunters are leisurely strolls. Designed for anyone who would like to walk at an easy pace due to rehabilitation, ongoing illness / injuries, or just general fitness. Children are welcome, too.On this one we will explore Lord Leverhulme's Terraced Gardens of Rivington Country Park. We will start with an easy stroll from Great House Barn along to The Castle - a ruined folly before starting the ascent through the country park towards the Japanese Garden / Lake. There will be some climb here, but we will take it steady.
The middle section of the walk will be an exploratory mooch about the various artefacts and gardens of Leverhulme's whimsical design, including a visit to the Pigeon Tower and Italian Gardens.
This 4.5 / 7.25mile walk will be easy-paced, but with moderate terrain / elevation. We will climb a total of 640ft / 195m. The route will be on a mix of grassy paths, tarmac roads and gravel / surfaced paths. We expect this walk to take 2.5 hours.
As with all Abigail's Trails, this is a small-group guided walk led by a professional Mountain Leader. Spaces are limited, cost £8 per person and must be booked in advance.
Well behaved, friendly (with people and other dogs) dogs are welcome.
Please ensure you have read and agreed to our Terms and Conditions and GDPR Privacy Notice prior to booking.
Further instructions and kit list will be emailed to you before the date.
