Experience enchanting transformations of balinese folk music in a one-of-a-kind surround sound listening experience - with contemporary indonesian soul food from Saji Restaurant. Empire Cinema and Anton Friisgaard is presenting Teratai Åkande, Antons brand new album, released on STROOM
Boomkat writes:
"Enchanting electro-acoustic transformations of Gamelan.
In key with Gamelan music’s ritualist intent and effect to make the listener transcend worlds, the results of ‘Teratai Åkande’ can be heard to occupy a space between dimensions of tradition and modernity.
From this place out of time, Friisgaard contours and dematerialises the instruments’ resonant overtones and rhythmelodic pulses, pulling them closer to the aesthetics previously explored by CPH’s Efterklang and the likes of Asa-Chang & Junky’s sublime electronica classics for Leaf, with a frisson of Nordic melancholia he can call his own."
Teratai Åkande, features balinese musicians Pande Made Gangga Sentana, I Nyoman Suwida, Dewa Badukz, Suryana Putra and Galung Awan and the album is mixed in surround sound in collaboration with Martin Cederholm Lindum at Tonestyrelsen Studios.
After the listening session, Saji will be serving indonesian food in Empire's foyer.
In Indonesian, Saji means to serve or present, and for them it means to deliver flavourful ideas, kindness and genuine hospitality.
They are full of joy to serve Indonesian cuisine in Copenhagen, focused on fresh, memorable and straightforward dishes.
Food is not included in the ticket price.
