About this Event
The traveling exhibit Bodies Making Form: One Hundred Years of Tennessee African American Artists, features influential Black craft artists from across Tennessee. The exhibition includes a variety of media created between 1922 and 2022. Historical figures like William Edmondson, Bessie Harvey, Greg Ridley, Fritz Massaquoi, and Sammie Nicely are featured in the exhibit, which will continue through 2027.
Karlota I. Contreras-Koterbay, director of the Slocumb Galleries, East Tennessee State University, is the co-curator of the traveling exhibit Bodies Making Form: One Hundred Years of Tennessee African American Artists. Ms. Contreras-Koterbay received a MA in art history from the University of the Philippines.
