Sensory adjustments (Music from the exhibits are only played in headphones)
Fixed lighting state with no sudden changes
A friendly face to greet you at Front of House
Quiet room (This is located on the 1st floor, right hand side)

ABOUT 'TENDING':

Growing from seeds planted during At the Meadow’s Edge, returns to the question of how we notice, care and exist in kinship with each other and our environment. Moving from threshold to dwelling, Tending gently shifts our attention from information overwhelm using sensory ways of knowing to guide us.

Paintings of mangroves encourage resilient reflections, sonic sculptures translate sound into matter and tactile talismans invite forms of engagement rooted in curiosity and care. Boundaries are softened and merged as works contaminate one another and ourselves, carrying new knowledge from the gallery space out into the world.

Spaces for reading, reflection and dreaming offer moments of rest in a shared environment; pauses intended not as a retreat from the world, but as methods to stay in it. To listen deeply, sense intentionally and dream collectively.

Tending invites you to consider how moving through the world can be nurtured through reclaiming our attention and being in our humanness.

ABOUT TURF:

Founded in 2013 by Croydon locals, Turf is Croydon’s homegrown artist space and the first entirely artist-run contemporary art space in the borough. Based in Croydon’s Whitgift Shopping Centre, we put on free exhibitions 7 workshops, provide affordable artist studios, run a free creative project space for locals & host a number of other local creative organisations and collectives. A registered charity, Turf aims to provide paid opportunities for artists and creatives who might otherwise be undersupported.
