About this Event
The Tenderloin District is one of the most incredible, historic, and unfortunately misunderstood neighborhoods in San Francisco.
Did you know that once upon a time this used to be the fancy theater and entertainment district?!
During our time together, we'll learn about how this neighborhood transitioned into a haven for marginalized folks and became the birthplace of radical change- particularly for the LGB(T)Q+ community.
I will also take you to visit the locations of : particularly where San Francisco's Stonewall (1/1/) and the Compton's Cafeteria Riot (8/26/1966) took place.
Today, the Tenderloin houses iconic institutions such as Glide Memorial Church, the Tenderloin National Forest, and the world's first and only Transgender Cultural District.
