Who gets to research and write trans history? Is this an academic project, a community project, or a mix of both? How can trans engagement be baked into our research from the beginning, rather than being tacked on to the end? What kinds of expertise and experience are required? Join SIAH Director Lexi Webster as she leads aconversation between an academic historian, Jonathan Conlin, and Abigail Parkes of Beyond Reflections, a trans-led charity committed to providing a safe community for trans+ people and their allies. One focus for their discussion will be Conlin's current research project, D'Eon 300, built around the upcoming tercentenary of the spy, diplomat and celebrity, the Chevalière D'Eon.
