Kathak exponent and choreographer Pooja Pant presents an evening of classical dance that brings together tradition and narrative through Tehreek and Ek Anant, reflecting her engagement with Kathak as both a living inheritance and a medium for storytelling.
Tehreek, meaning movement, explores the evolving nature of Kathak, an art form carried forward through generations. Drawing from traditional compositions alongside new choreography, the work reflects how each guru and performer contributes to its growing vocabulary, balancing rhythmic precision with expressive depth.
Ek Anant turns to the timeless epic Ramayan, unfolding as an ensemble piece that revisits the enduring belief that however powerful evil may appear, it is ultimately overcome by virtue. Through coordinated group choreography, and clear narrative structure, the production presents a spirited retelling of a complex and timeless epic.
Founder-director of the Pooja Pant Dance Company, Pooja Pant trained under Guru Smt Rajashree Shirke and pursued advanced training with Pdt. Arjun Mishra. A Masters in Kathak, she has performed across India and internationally at venues li the London Palladium, Royal Opera House Muscat, Kathak Kendra Delhi and Benaras Kathak Mahotsav.
