There will be two sessions of a TEEN POETRY REVISION WORKSHOP with two amazing published poets; Jim Capozzi and Emmalea Russo. This is a chance to work with your peers, have professionals read your work, and walk away with revision tips and publication advice!
Bring a poem you are currently working on. Every participant will get individual attention and advice on their work. Everyone will also get to take home a poetry kit including poetry utensils, revision tips, and writing essentials.

Instructor, Jim Capozzi
James Capozzi is the author of the poetry collections Devious Sentiments and Country Album, which won the New Measure Poetry Prize. His poems have appeared in Poetry, The Iowa Review, New Republic, Chicago Review, and elsewhere. He is an Associate Professor at Virginia State University.
Session 2: 5pm-7pm
Instructor, Emmalea Russo
Emmalea Russo is the author of two novels: Vivienne(2024) and The Moon Papers (forthcoming summer 2026). Her books of poetry are G(2018), Wave Archive (2019), Confetti(2022), and Magenta (2023). Recent poems and essays have appeared in Artforum, BOMB, Spike Art Magazine, The Brooklyn Rail, Compact, Granta, Gulf Coast, Los Angeles Review of Books, and elsewhere. She has been a writer in residence at Lower Manhattan Cultural Council in New York and 18th Street Arts Center in Los Angeles and a visiting critic at Parsons School of Design and The Art Institute of Cincinnati. She has taught courses on poetry, philosophy, and art at various institutions including Saint Peter's University, Northeastern University, The Melbourne School of Literature, and GCAS. Her books have been reviewed in The Chicago Review, The Yale Review, Publishers Weekly, and elsewhere.

This workshop is for our younger generation in hopes to support and inspire young artists to make their passions a reality. Our goal in this workshop is to aid young people between the ages of 12-17yrs.
Our programming offered in The TANJ Youth Arts Initiative is in partnership with Teen Arts New Jersey through generous grant funding provided by The New Jersey Economic Development Authority under the A.R.T Phase II Program.
