Gabby Petito's story garnered international attention in 2021, shining a light on the devastation of intimate partner violence.

She went missing while on a cross-country trip with her fiancé, and was discovered strangled to death weeks later. Her tragic journey has been highlighted on Dateline, 48 Hours, and 20/20, as well as a Netflix documentary.

In order to bring a heightened awareness to the issue of dating violence, NextSTEP is privileged to partner with the Gabby Petito Foundation to educate students on its definition, warning signs, cycle and consequences. The program will be facilitated by Gabby's mother, Nichole Schmidt, and her step-mother, Tara Petito, who have been actively engaged in positive, proactive change through education, awareness and prevention since the loss of their daughter.
