Join us for a fun and interactive cooking experience where teens and an adult (or two!) of their choice can bond over delicious food. No prior cooking experience is required, just come ready to have a good time. Don't miss out on this unique opportunity to cook and connect with your teen!
1. Foundations of Taco-Making
Part 1: Crafting the Perfect Tortilla
- Introduction to different types of tortillas (corn and flour).
- Hands-on tortilla-making: mixing, rolling, and cooking.
- Understanding masa and its significance in Mexican cuisine.
Part 2: Essential Salsas and Condiments
- Making a classic salsa: pico de gallo
- Preparing guacamole and pickled vegetables.
- Balancing flavors: heat, acidity, and sweetness.
Part 3: Exploring Taco Fillings- Traditional Meats
- Carnitas and chicken tinga.
- Marinating and seasoning meats for authentic flavors.
Part 4: Building and Presenting Tacos

About The Chef
Chef Amanda Williams is a seasoned culinary expert with over two decades in the hospitality industry, including 15 years dedicated to teaching culinary arts. As the owner of Vari Culinary, she brings a wealth of experience and passion to her cooking classes, which focus on global cuisine. Amanda's background includes a management role at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse and consulting with the National Restaurant Association, establishing her as a leader in culinary management and education. Her credentials as a Certificated Secondary Foodservice Educator and Certified ServSafe Manager instructor, highlight her dedication to culinary excellence.
In her global cuisine classes, Amanda combines her extensive knowledge with interactive teaching methods, offering participants a hands-on experience in diverse culinary traditions and techniques. Her engaging approach not only celebrates the art of cooking but also provides valuable insights into a rich variety of global flavors and cooking styles. Through her classes, Amanda ensures that each participant gains practical skills and a deeper appreciation for international cuisine.
