The establishment of a Technical Advisory Committee is required by state law dating back to the formation of the Los Angeles County Transportation Commission (LACTC), predecessor agency to Metro. Since its formal inception in 1977, the TAC has undergone periodic reviews of its membership, functions, and responsibilities based upon the changing needs of this agency; however, its function remains relatively unchanged.
The committee provides technical assistance to Metro by reviewing and evaluating the various transportation proposals and alternatives within LA County. TAC Bylaws
