About this Event
There's a drive-through check in at Lakeside Nature Center where you'll tell the folks at the tent that you're with "the Jackson Bridge." They'll give you gloves, bags, and pickers if you need them.
Just west of Lakeside Nature Center at Myrtle Ave and E Gregory Blvd, look for our purple "Team Naturespace" sign and pull in the driveway that goes into our forest. We'll remove bush honeysuckle or pick up litter washed down the Fox Hollow Creek. No matter what you choose as your task, your hands are helping hands. Thank you for your care.
Wear closed-toe shoes with tread, thick pants and layers for the unpredictable weather.
Gloves, trash bags and shovels will be provided (as well as hot dogs and nachos at noon back at Lakeside for those interested.)
In 1991 a group of forward thinking citizens formed Friends of Lakeside Nature Center Stream Team #175 and planned a river cleanup. Project Blue River Rescue continues today as the largest one day clean up in Missouri, removing DOZENS OF TONS OF TRASH from the Blue River during the first weekend in April of each year. Thousands of volunteers meet the Blue River up close at this river cleanup. Usually a few dozen grace the Blue River tributary that runs through our forest trail project. You're welcome here.
