On April 10, 2011, SSG Jamie Jarboe was shot by a sniper in the Zhari District of Afghanistan during his third deployment. After more than 100 surgical procedures, Jamie fought courageously for nearly a year before passing away on March 21, 2012.Before his final breath, Jamie shared his dying wish with his wife, Melissa Jarboe:
“Take care of my fellow service members.”
From that moment, the Military Veteran Project (MVP) was born — a volunteer-driven mission dedicated to preventing military suicide and serving those who served us.

About the Day of Service
To honor the sacrifice made by SSG Jamie Jarboe, volunteers will come together for a Day of Service in his memory.
We will roll up our sleeves, work side-by-side, and support our community the same way Jamie supported his brothers and sisters in uniform.
Activities may include:
