A 4-Week Course for Parents & Children
About this Event

Join AuDHD educator-scholar Calvin Eaton, M.S., for a play-based, body-centered course designed to help families build practical self-regulation skills at home.

This course draws on social-emotional learning (SEL), occupational therapy-informed strategies, and widely used regulation frameworks found in schools and therapeutic settings. You will leave with tools you can use immediately.

Dates, Time & Location

This is a hybrid course, meaning it’s held in-person and virtually:

(In Person — Adults & Children)

Irondequoit Public Library | 5:00 to 7:00 PM

Virtual Sessions (Zoom — Adults Only)
October 8 and 15, 2026 | 5:00 to 7:00 PM

What You Will Learn
  • Practical SEL strategies that support emotional regulation and behavior
  • Tools to reduce daily struggles at home and school
  • Language and techniques to better understand your child’s needs
  • Strategies to advocate effectively for your child in school and other settings

Course Structure

Weeks 1–2 (In Person — Adults & Children)
Children engage in guided, hands-on regulation activities while parents observe in real time.

Each session includes:

  • Live modeling of regulation strategies
  • Structured, play-based activities for children
  • Dedicated time for parent discussion and questions

The goal is for parents to see, experience, and practice these strategies so they can confidently use them at home.

Weeks 3–4 (Zoom — Adults Only)
Parents meet in a small group setting to reflect, troubleshoot, and deepen implementation.

Each week includes:

Sharing one strategy you tried at home

Discussion of what worked and what felt challenging

Coaching and problem-solving based on real family experiences
