Webinar Description:
When teachers are asked what they want children to learn in the first weeks of school, they often say, “The rules!” We need to introduce rules in a way that helps children understand their meaning and their “why.” Come to this session to learn about the essential rules to teach to early learners and how to communicate them in a positive, strength-based way that helps children feel capable. Join us as we discuss what we can do when children move beyond our boundaries, both in the moment through our interactions with children and when we need to consider why a child consistently exhibits challenging behavior.
Objectives:
The participants will be able to…
1. Define the word discipline
2. Identify the characteristics of a positive approach to addressing children’s behavior
3. Identify the 3 main rules to teach children
4. Describe how to lead positive, strength-based interactions with children about their behavior
5. Describe how to complete an ABC Analysis of Behavior objectively
