We *can* build space for a left political party in the US. Join us to discuss how we get there from here
About this Event

At the ballot box, it can often feel like we stand before two intractable facts:

  1. The GOP continues to entrench its political power by building an authoritarian state, stripping away the pro-human functions of government, and  strengthening the repressive apparatus.
  2. The Democratic Party, the formal alternative in the two-party system, lacks the capacity for challenging this authoritarian takeover.

Where does this leave us? Are all efforts to build an alternative to the Democratic Party doomed to fail? We believe we not only *need* to build a space for a left political party in the U.S., but more importantly, that we *can.*  What concrete steps would this take? Join us to discuss how we get from here to there.

In this teach-in and discussion, we will discuss political parties: why a left political party is necessary to save democracy, why our current system is not really a party system, and legal reforms and organizing strategies that can help us build the political infrastructure we need.

Third Space Politics is a grassroots DC-based group that works to overthrow the two-party system and build serious political alternatives for organizing and building power
