Spring Tea Party 2024

Join arkansawblk of The Urban Wildlife Haven and Dena of DP True Serenity at The Village Place for a magical Tea Party as we collectively celebrate Spring and awaken our inner-magick!

This in-person magickal event we will be honoring International Black Fae day at our tea party gathering through costumes and dress up to tap into our creativity and sense of play

Participants will:

• Choose their a magickal item e.g. wings, crowns, dragon tails to wear during the party

• Tap into a mindfulness session
• Create a spring floral item to take home
• Have the opportunity to partake in tea time with snacks and adult beverages provided
• Write affirmative notes to share with other guests

Let's come together, embrace the mystical energy of Spring, and create unforgettable memories. Mark your calendars and don't miss out on this extraordinary event!

Time: 11-1pm CST

Where: The Village Place

Cost: We offer a sliding scale fee for our Tea Party between $15-30. Sliding scale fees are variable prices for products, services, or taxes based on a customer's ability to pay. If your income allows you to afford a higher price, please consider doing so and vice versa.

We want to offer prices that are not only allow our facilitators to be paid fairly, but also provide access to our event for participants with different affordability ranges!

What:

• International Black Fae day is an annual holiday on the second Saturday of May for Black folks who love everything about the world of fantasy.
• It's also a day to dress like the fairy or any other supernatural being of your dreams, and post it on social media using #BlackFaeDay. The idea started as many great ones do: with a tweet.

Offering:

• arkansablk will be providing magickal items e.g. wings, crowns, dragon tails for participants to use during the tea party.
• Please make sure to return all items by the end of the party.
• If you'd like to take your magickal items home, then you can pay for them at the party!

Attire:

• We encourage you to wear whatever makes you feel magickal and is an expression of your inner creativity!

This is a kid-friendly event as we encourage caretakers to bring their little ones to participate in the festivities with them. We will not be providing child-care, but we will offer activities for the young humans to have just as much fun ad the adults.

Greetings, my name is Dena Patterson, the owner of True Serenity Accessories and a proud Yoga Instructor. My passion is to assist others to find positive light within, on this journey called “Life.”

I started my business True Serenity Accessories back in 2014 as my “leisure thing”, ME TIME! I use this time as a stress reliever and meditation away from the worldly things in which we all endure daily. Before I knew it, this set aside time became what others enjoy wearing! I was introduced to yoga in 2017. It allowed me tap deeper into inner standing of peace and creativity.

Kendra Danielle (she/her) is a multi-dimensional creative and quilter who sews together elements of the African diaspora ancestry, spirituality, and traditions through her mixed media artwork, poetry, storytelling, and nature-based spiritual practices. 

A native of Little Rock, AR and a global nomad, Kendra opened this business inspired by her desire to help heal the relationship between people and the natural environment. By trade she is a nature educator, urban farmer, apiarist, farm animal specialist, plant medicine apprentice, curator of healing spaces for Queer, Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) and collage artist for the past 5 years. Her work aims to center the needs of underestimated communities' health and wholeness and to dismantle oppressive systems that divide communities and harm nature.
