Te Motu Kairangi / Miramar Peninsula has many sites of historical significance, together with varied and regenerating biodiversity.The route of walk will take in Miramar Community Garden (on site of former Wellington Prison garden); site of former prison officers' training building, women's reformatory building and a filming location; ten former munitions bunkers; Shelly Bay - works for Peter Jackson & Fran Walsh to repair the landscape; (possible sojourn at Chocolate Fish Café); walk south beside Shelly Bay Rd; climb Piki ki Maupuia Walkway through native bush in Carter Park to Maupuia and no. 24 bus route.
