🌏Free entry and open to everyone
When the world lands in Tāmaki Makaurau for World Indigenous Peoples’ Conference on Education (WIPCE) 2025, the heartbeat will be in the centre of the city at Te Ao Pūtahi Festival!
A free and fun event open to everyone, Te Ao Pūtahi is a vibrant festival experience to share with whānau and friends. Join us for five powerful days from Sunday, November 16, 11 AM to 9 PM, and Monday to Thursday, November 17–20, from 11 AM to 7 PM. Aotea Square will transform into a living, breathing village bursting with Indigenous culture and pride. And you can be a part of it!
For the first time in 20 years, Aotearoa and @Te Wānanga Aronui o Tāmaki Makau Rau (AUT) are hosting the world's largest Indigenous knowledge forum (WIPCE), in partnership with iwi manaaki Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei in Tāmaki Mākaurau.
See Aotea Square come alive with the sights, sounds, tastes, and wairua of te ao Māori, Pacific and Indigenous cultures from across the globe.
This free festival opens on Sunday with a laser and firework show and star-packed concert featuring some of Aotearoa and the Pacific’s best. Jackson Owens, Betty-Anne, Seth Haapu and Naia Awatea set the tone on Rātapu (Sunday) 16 Nov, while artists like Maisey Rika and Adeaze bring it home later in the week.
For those interested in handcrafted taonga and bold Indigenous fashion Te Ao Pūtahi Festival is the place to be! Make the most of this unique chance to buy Indigenous arts and support Indigenous pākihi (business) in Te Ao Hokohoko – the world of trade.
Experience Te Ao Kai with your whānau – Food made with aroha and the flavours of Aotearoa and the Pacific pair perfectly with live haka, waiata, and vocal performances.
Reconnect in Te Ao Rongoā -– where healing practitioners offer mirimiri, lomilomi, and other traditional Indigenous healing practices.
Take a stroll into Te Ao Toi – the world of art and witness the living legacies of whakairo (Māori carving), raranga (Māori weaving), poi making and Niuean Hiapo (tapa cloth weaving).
Bring the tamariki, in Te Ao Whānui – there are plenty of activities just for our little ones. Tamariki and kaumātua are taonga. There will be designated space for kuia and koroua to enjoy the festival.
For adults, a licensed R18 area offers a relaxed spot for a drink with your mates.
Whether you're here for the kai, the kōrero, or the entertainment, Te Ao Pūtahi Festival is your place to celebrate Indigenous excellence with our visitors from across the globe. Experience the mauri of Indigenous cultures coming together to share their gifts with the community!
This is a once in a generation event that you don’t want to miss!
