About this Event
Montreal duo GeminiCrab brings a rich blend of R&B, soul, hip hop, and jazz, led by Félix Award-winning keyboardist/producer Caulder Nash (Jonathan Roy) and 3-time Grammy-nominated vocalist/producer Malika Tirolien (Bokanté). Formed through experimentation with binaural recording technology, the group has built momentum with a captivating sound, and their 2024 album Gen Y Lens reflects both the musical influences and social realities of the millennial generation. They are joined by Rémi Jean LeBlanc on bass and Ronny Desinor on drums.
Ontario neosoul collective SHEBAD centers around visual artist/vocalist Claire Voy and multi-instrumentalist Ciccio Spagnolo. Drawing inspiration from artists such as Stevie Wonder, Hiatus Kaiyote, Amy Winehouse, and Daft Punk, their music mixes indie soul, jazz-inflected melodies, danceable basslines, and soaring vocals. Their debut album, Music is the Answer (2024), received strong praise, including recognition from CBC’s Tom Power, Laila Biali, and Rohit Joseph. The band also features Emil White on keyboards, bass, and saxophones, Bella Tian on keyboards and vocals, and Emmitt Leacock on drums.
From Philadelphia, SNACKTIME is a seven-piece soul, funk, and alternative band that first gained attention in 2020 by performing free concerts in Rittenhouse Square to massive crowds. Since then, they have become a rising live powerhouse, selling out headlining shows and touring with acts like Portugal. The Man, Fitz & The Tantrums, and Nathaniel Rateliff. Known for their energetic, feel-good brass-driven sound, they arrive at TD JazzFest’s Bullen Park as a band clearly on the rise. The group includes Nico Bryant on vocals, Michael Spearman on trombone and keyboards, Eric Sherman on trumpet and guitar, Austin Marlow on drums, Larry Monroe Jr. on guitar, Ben Stocker on saxophones, and Sam Gellerstein on sousaphone and bass.
