About this Event
The Taunton Classic Motorcycle Club organized Annual Exmoor Run. Now in it's 28th year. Ticket only, but open to everyone, not just club members.
Starting out from and finishing back at Sheppy's Cider on the A38 south of Taunton, the guided ride takes you along 110 miles of scenic roads out into the wilds of Exmoor, stopping at Dulverton for lunch before returning in the afternoon, via a different route. There will be a coffee stop somewhere along the way in the morning, and refreshments such as bacon butties, tea and cake at Sheppy's at the start and finish.
The ride is suitable for all manner of roadworthy old motorcycles and everything pre-2000 and road legal is welcome - but it isn't a speed event and is especially aimed at classic and vintage bikes.
The supported charities are Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance and Freewheelers (Blood Bike charity covering Somerset).
This year, for the first time we are doing ALL ticketing on-line via Eventbrite, ONLY. So you can buy tickets right up to the point when they are sold out, but please note that there is a strict limit on numbers of 150 and based on past experience we expect to sell out. So please book early to secure a place, and note that there are NO TICKET SALES at the event.
The route will be marshalled by club members and volunteers (please get in touch if you would like to volunteer to marshal). A follow up recovery van & trailer will also be in attendance, in case anyone should splutter to a halt in a mobile phone black spot.
The event will begin with check-in at Sheppy's from 8.00am (check-in closes at 9.15am) and end, after award presentation at about 4.00pm. You will be given a number card to fix to your bike, at check-in.
Awards will be presented at the finish for:
- Best Bike (pre '77)
- Best Bike ('77 and later)
- Oldest Motorcycle
- Furthest Traveled
- And best Supported Club
This year we are also offering a special opportunity to join the Taunton Classic Motorcycle Club at a discounted rate as part of the ticket purchase. See the additional ticket add-on option. Please join and come along and meet us.
Of course we can't guarantee the weather, but you can be sure of a brilliant day. Pre-Covid this run was very well supported and hugely popular, raising significant sums for charity and always providing a great day out:
"I had a thoroughly enjoyable day, this was the first time I had done the Exmoor run and I will be back next year without a doubt. I honestly can not think of one thing that I would like to see changed. I like the way the event is open to any age of bike unlike some other runs. Thank you to all who gave their time to organize such a great event and see you next year"
"First club run I have been on and I really enjoyed it. A big thank you to all involved in planning and running it. Can`'t wait for the next"
"I really enjoyed seeing the old bikes at Dulverton. They were amazing and everyone was so friendly to talk about the "world of bikes". Thank you and I look forward to seeing you all again next year!"
