We’re kicking off the Taylor Street Block Party series with a lineup that hits hard, moves fast, and sets the tone for our biggest season yet.Headlining the night is none other than Mustard Plug, the legendary ska-punk band out of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Formed in 1991, they’ve spent over three decades bringing their signature blend of punchy horns, upbeat rhythms, and infectious energy to stages around the world. From Warped Tour to international circuits across Europe, Japan, and beyond . Known for their high-energy live shows and feel-good chaos, Mustard Plug delivers the kind of set that turns a crowd into a full-on dance party.
Joining them is a stacked lineup of regional and local favorites:
Nectar – indie punk band from Champaign, Illinois
The Write Ups – A politically-driven, dirty ska band out of Flint, MI.
Sid Kingston – a dance, funk, hip hop, pop, reggae group from Chicago.
Popped Balloon – playful, punchy, and impossible not to move to
Hannah Kitt – raw, captivating songwriting
This is more than a show, it’s the official launch of a season built on connection, creativity, and community. Expect live music, local vendors, drinks, and that unmistakable Taylor Street energy that brings people together.
As always, this event is free to the public on Taylor Street in the heart of Downtown Champaign.
