Adult pottery workshop at Liberation Art Gallery!
Join us for an amazing pottery experience at our weekly pottery workshop here at Liberation Art Gallery! Discover the art of working with clay in a supportive, creative studio environment. This hands-on class at Liberation Art Gallery introduces participants to essential pottery techniques, including hand-building, slab construction, and wheel throwing. Students will learn to shape and refine their pieces, explore surface design, and firing is available onsite to create finished ceramic works.
The 2-hour Taster Pottery Session includes:
Hand building
Wheel Throwing
Wheel Throwing: Under the expert guidance of our resident potter at Liberation Art Gallery, you'll embark on a creative journey using a pottery wheel to craft your own unique hand-made pot.
Hand Building: You will also get the chance to create a charming handmade pinch bowl, or an item of your choice, exploring various modeling techniques with specialized tools. We will guide you with each step, ensuring you leave with not only a beautiful finished piece but also a newfound appreciation for the art of pottery and a skill you continue to grow with.
Guided by our in-house ceramics artist, the class encourages personal expression, experimentation, and the development of individual style. Whether you are completely new to ceramics or looking to expand your practice, this course provides the time, space, and instruction needed to grow your skills.

Inside the gallery, you’ll be immersed in inspiring artworks, a welcoming atmosphere, and the joy of creating amongst fellow art lovers. It’s not just a workshop—it's a moment of connection, creativity, and appreciation for Brighton’s artistic soul.
All materials are provided, just bring yourself and an old t-shirt to dive into this hands-on experience! No prior experience required. At Liberation Art Gallery CIC, we aim to create an inclusive and relaxing environment for all our workshop participants. Feel free to bring your own refreshments and we are BYOB friendly to enjoy during your session, making your experience even more comfortable and sociable. Our gallery also provides toilet and handwashing facilities, ensuring convenience and ease throughout your visit. With all workshop materials and tools provided, this setup allows you to fully enjoy your creative experience without worrying about additional costs, so you can focus entirely on making art and having fun.
If you'd like to fire your ceramic creation, it's just £5. Items must be collected within 30 days.
You can book in for a paint and glaze session (and 2nd firing) with us to bring your creation to life. We also offer a series of taster sessions, exploring handbuilding, wheel throwing and glazing for beginners to hone their skills. We understand.that plans can change, and we do our best to be fair whilst protecting the sustainability of our workshops.
Cancellations or date changes must be made at least 48 hours before the scheduled.workshops
Cancellations made within 48 hours of the workshop or non attendance on the day are non-refundable
As a good-will gesture, we are happy to to offer a transfer to a future workshop of equal value subject to availability when at least 48 hours notice is given
Workshop credits must be used within 3 months of the original workshop date and cannot be exchanged for cash
We are unable to offer refunds or workshop transfers for same-day cancellations. As materials, artist fees and staffing are already commited.
