About this Event
Hosted by New York State Senator James Sanders Jr., the event will be a celebration of the rich cultural heritage, diverse traditions, and delectable cuisines of the African continent and diaspora. This extravaganza will also feature a fashion show with an African theme. Renowned fashion designers Laduma Ngxokolo (Maxhosa) and Al-Karim (American Couture) will be in attendance. We believe that such gatherings foster understanding, strengthen diplomatic ties, and provide a platform for cultural exchange. This event takes place during Caucus Weekend, which is hosted by the largest Black Caucus of legislators outside of Washington, D.C. The Annual Legislative Conference is hosted by the New York State Association of Black, Puerto Rican, Hispanic & Asian Legislators, Inc. and held in the State Capitol and the Legislative Office Building. Therefore, in attendance will be numerous elected officials, government officials from state agencies, business and labor leaders, and leaders from all kinds of sectors.
