The world has witnessed an unprecedented progress in technological capability which was expected to transform lives unequivocally. However the reality has unfolded differently creating an inherent technology-society paradox. For instance while Artificial Intelligence (AI) has made supply chains more efficient workforce displacement has become a societal challenge. Similarly while quick commerce has created value for consumers it has arguably made the traditional retailers redundant raised concerns about riders’ safety and exacerbated environmental issues.TaSIC 2025 key highlights
Moreover innovations such as digital public infrastructure (DPI) touted to promote consumer well-being quality of life inclusiveness and accessibility also come with several regulatory and privacy risks. Another dimension influencing the paradox is the challenge of data quality standardisation and attribution which impedes the measurement of impact and externalities. Against this backdrop how do we ensure that transformative technologies are leveraged responsibly so they become enduring tools for well-being and prosperity rather than drivers of deeper societal divides?
The inaugural edition of the International Technology and Societal Impact Conference in 2025 (TaSIC 2025) was conceptualised to deepen discussion around this question. Continuing with that commitment TaSIC 2026 aims to consolidate learnings from last year’s conference and probe persistent challenges arising from the imbalances created at the intersection of technology and society.
Tracks and indicative themes
In this spirit the Academic Track of TaSIC 2026 brings together scholars professors practitioners policymakers and thought leaders to engage in in-depth discussions and collaborative exploration of the growingly complex intersection of technology and society. The agenda explores how responsible consumption and purposeful innovation design can contribute to progress. There will also be a focus on technological advancements sustainable circular economy transitions impact measurement and regulatory initiatives.
