On April 30 - SPARKS presents, the leading international voice of symphonic rock, Co‑founder and frontwoman of Nightwish for nine years – Tarja Turunen at the Rustaveli Theatre. She will be accompanied by the String Quartet.
Tarja Turunen — soprano, composer, songwriter — is the leading international voice of symphonic rock and one of Finland’s best-known musicians.
Rise: Co‑founder and frontwoman of Nightwish for nine years, earning Gold and Platinum awards and helping create the symphonic metal genre by fusing operatic soprano with heavy music.
Solo career: Launched in 2007 with My Winter Storm (Gold/Platinum in multiple countries). Key rock albums: What Lies Beneath, Colours in the Dark, The Brightest Void / The Shadow Self, and In The Raw (2019). Ongoing Living The Dream tour and new album in progress.
Classical work: Records and performs chamber and orchestral programs worldwide. Classical studio album Ave Maria – En Plein Air (2015) received strong international praise. Regularly appears at opera and festival stages.
Christmas projects: Annual December concerts; Henkäys Ikuisuudesta (double Platinum in Finland). Dark Christmas series (From Spirits and Ghosts, 2017; Dark Christmas, 2023) blends carols with gothic, cinematic orchestration.
Collaborations & projects: Worked with Within Temptation, Schiller, Mike Oldfield, Doro, Scorpions, and many guitar legends on Outlanders. Shared major tours with Alice Cooper, Stratovarius, and Marko Hietala; guest with Within Temptation in 2024.
Live legacy: Over 1,000 shows; major live releases include Act I, Act II and Luna Park Ride. Best Of celebrations in 2020 and the Best Of – Living The Dream compilation (2022).
Awards & media: Emma and Echo nominations; first Finnish solo artist with a Gold Record in Germany (also achieved with Nightwish). Coach on The Voice of Finland (2015–16), winning two consecutive seasons.
Other work: Authored Singing In My Blood (2021). Continues to tour globally, balancing rock and classical projects while expanding her cinematic, genre‑blending repertoire.
