Luciana Valle is highly regarded for her unique ability to articulate the nuances of Argentine tango to dancers of all levels. A native of Buenos Aires, Argentina, she is recognized as an influential advocate and instructor with incomparable energy and insights, inspiring students and teachers alike. She is known for her deep understanding of both the leaders' and followers' roles, and her talent to convey the biomechanics of movements, making complex actions accessible. Her classes involve thoughtful and progressive presentations of the mechanics, structure, connection between leaders and followers, and musicality of tango, giving her students a greater understanding and command of this complex dance.
Luciana began dancing tango in the early nineties. Her teachers included Gustavo Naveira, Fabián Salas, Pepito Avellaneda, Mingo & Esther Pugliese, Graciela González and Mariano “Chicho” Frúmboli, among others. Her remarkable skills have put her in the center of the current tango revival. Between 1995 and 1997, she collaborated with Gustavo Naveira and Fabian Salas in a project which created a widely-used language for the tango dance.
Throughout this time, she taught classes and performed in several private and public institutions in Buenos Aires including universities, cultural centers, restaurants, and tango salons. In 1996 she took her first professional tour to Brazil, to perform and teach. She also taught and performed in Ecuador that same year.
In 1999 Luciana started traveling to the U.S. As a distinguished teacher with extensive knowledge of tango, the demand for her expertise has flourished and she now tours the country regularly, with a following of enthusiastic students spanning from San Francisco to Boston and from Tampa to Seattle. Since her first visit to the U.S., she has gained faithful students and fans who continue grow in number within the tango community.
Already considered to be one of the most important tango teachers in the world, Luciana accomplished another breakthrough in the beginning of 2004 when she created, with Dina Martinez and Valencia Batiuk, El Motivo Tango, a tango school that includes one of the most prestigious and popular practices in Buenos Aires (La Practica de los Lunes), as well as a program with regular instructional classes, thematic seminars, shows, dances, concerts, and institutional projects.
In 2005, Luciana established a successful instructional program known as the TangoIntensivo Seminar, conducted twice annually in Buenos Aires, to allow international students to study and partner with local professionals and trained assistants in Luciana's week-long progressive curricula.
Since 2006 she has participated, repetitively, in the Buenos Aires Tango Festival and in the World Tango Championship (the "Mundial championship") classes and seminars. In 2019 Luciana was invited to join the jury of the World Dance Championship, in the Tango de Pista category, along with outstanding colleagues.
Along with her teaching career, Luciana performs with equal success as a dancer. Her works include innumerable presentations and shows in various salons, theaters and Tango stages and events in Buenos Aires and abroad. She also participates in numerous national and international tango festivals and congresses.
Considered a Teacher of Teachers, with more than 25 years of experience, Luciana continues to travel the world regularly, imparting her pedagogy and vast knowledge of dance while conducting instructional seminars, presentations and shows.
