Join us for an Argentine Tango intermediate lesson and milonga with special guest teacher, Jon Howe!BIO
Jon has been dancing Argentine tango for over 25 years, and he feels incredibly lucky to have studied early on with influential teachers such as Cacho Dante, Nito y Elba Garcia, Miriam Larici, Alicia Ponds, and Omar Vega. Each of them shaped his understanding of tango in different ways, but they all shared a deep respect for connection, musicality, and intention—reminding him that tango is not about steps, but about listening and responding.
What Jon loves most about tango is that it never gets old. The same song can feel completely different depending on the partner, the moment, or even ones mood that day. Tango is improvisational, emotional, and deeply social. There is nothing quite like walking onto the floor as strangers and leaving feeling like something meaningful was shared—even if it was just three minutes.
Jon enjoys teaching because he loves watching that lightbulb moment happen—when someone suddenly relaxes, connects, and realizes, “Oh… this is tango.” It is incredibly rewarding for him to help people feel comfortable, confident, and welcomed into the community. For Jon, teaching isn’t about perfection; it’s about creating a space where people feel encouraged to grow, make mistakes, laugh, and fall in love with the dance the way he did.
