ABOUT THE PLACE:
VOLVER, beside bring one of the most famous tangos, which means
„To come back”
is situated in an ancient house in Barska 26, Krakow, in the Dębniki neighborhood.
Near by the Vistula river, it is very close to the Old Town and the Jewish quarter and it’s easily reachable by public transports.
Currently handled by Gianpio Cappucci with 20 years of experience in tango
VOLVER was founded on August 12th 2018.
Nowadays is one of the biggest references of tango schools in Krakow.
ABOUT TANGO:
Tango was born in the middle of XIX century in the poor areas and harbors of Uruguay and Argentina from a mixture of dances that immigrants brought during the big migration in South America in that era.
It also includes African dances like CANDOMBE.
In the beginning was danced only by men, and by the 30es women were included.
The GOLDEN AGE was in the 40es with it’s maximum expression of music and dancers.
Nowadays is becoming more and more popular between the young generation with different categories (TANGO NUEVO, TANGO ESCENARIO) but the classic one (MILONGUERO or SOCIAL) is still the most danced.
Dance of passion, the embrace is the way of building the communication between the roles (leaders and followers) listening to each other and following the common goal of dancing together to share emotions.
ABOUT FORRÓ:
Forró is both a music genre and a partner dance originating from Northeastern Brazil.
It integrates various rhythms, ranging from joyful and fast (e.g., baião, xaxado, arrasta-pé) to calm and lyrical (xote). Combined with a vast repertoire of movements and techniques, this musical variety allows for a wide range of self-expression.
The inseparable forró trio usually consists of sanfona (an accordion), zabumba (a specialized drum) and a triangle.
The dance focuses on the connection between yourself, the music and your partner, whether in a close embrace or an open position. It’s marked by playfulness, and has evolved itself into a collaborative dance, going beyond the traditional division of roles between leaders and followers, as you will frequently see followers suggesting moves or partners switching roles entirely.
