UPDATE 5 DEC - Tamworth Borough Council’s Christmas lights switch-on event planned for 7 December, has sadly been cancelled due to forecast high winds.
The switch-on event was originally planned Saturday 23 November, but postponed due to Storm Bert. Storm Darragh is now set to bring dangerous high winds across the country this weekend, making it unsafe to run an outdoor event.
People are reassured that the lights will now be switched on from 3.30pm on Friday 6 December, but sadly the official event to mark the occasion with a stage entertainment and outdoor stalls cannot safely take place this year.

Tamworth Castle Grounds (Holloway/Castle end)
The yuletide season will be kicked off in style as the town prepares for the annual Christmas Lights Switch-On and an afternoon of festive entertainment for the whole family.
This year the switch on will take place at the Holloway end of the Castle Grounds with the fun beginning at 12noon with food and drink stalls, fairground rides, Bert & Gert's Festive Market and a stage of live entertainment. Switch on at 5pm.
