Experience a celestial celebration of Tallis Vocalis’ 10th anniversary season with Thomas Tallis’ “Missa Puer natus est nobis”, a seven-part masterpiece of Renaissance polyphony. This work, based on a Christmas chant, showcases Tallis’ intricate counterpoint and lush harmonies, creating a rich and meditative soundscape. The programme also includes Marian motets by contemporary and Renaissance composers: Robert Parsons’ Ave Maria, James MacMillan’s Ave maris stella, and Vanissa Law’s Alma redemptoris mater, a special commission written for the group’s 10th anniversary. These pieces, celebrating the Virgin Mary, harmoniously complement Tallis’ Christmas-themed work, creating a profound and spiritually uplifting experience.
Peter Phillips, director of the world-famous Tallis Scholars, will conduct the concert as part of his season-long collaboration with Tallis Vocalis on their 10th anniversary season.
Concert runs approximately 1 hour with NO intermission.
