THE workshop supporting parents to deal with the constant arguments and worry about device use by their young people
About this Event

Are you concerned about the amount of time your child spends online?
Does your young person seem obsessed with their screen?
Are you having frequent arguments about getting off devices?
Do you worry about what your child is seeing, doing or sharing online?

Many young people these days have difficulty self-regulating their internet and device use.

This is such a challenge for parents because these issues cannot be managed by simply installing parental controls on devices.

It is the issue parents ask about most on every workshop and course that we run.

Parents are struggling to respond, with confidence, to challenges around phones, X Boxes, Playstations and social media especially with the constant worry about the amount of time spent on devices.

Here are some of the questions parents ask:

  • What is acceptable?
  • How much is too much?
  • How can I put boundaries in place?
  • Who is my child talking to or messaging?

This reliance on screen time can have a negative impact on behaviour .

The reliance on screens has vastly increased over the recent years and has left parents wondering how to regain some balance and control over these challenges.

However, there are things that we can do that will make all the difference, and we know that the smallest change in our approach can have a significant affect on a situation.

Parents who are able to understand the cause of these problems are better able to set up appropriate guidance and boundaries. They will leave this workshop understanding what is happening for their child and what they can do about it.

Run by highly experienced facilitators, counsellors and parenting practitioners, this online workshop will help parents to understand:

  • How to get children off their devices
  • How to reduce conflict around device use
  • Keeping young people safe
  • Managing issues & boundaries around technology with your relationship intact

The workshop will incorporate a Q&A session.

Previous attendees have said:

“This has given me key building blocks to tackle and address issues both now and in the future.”

“I thought the session was really interactive and informative. The visuals and clear presentation will help me remember everything. It covered my concerns in great detail.”

This workshop is suitable for all parents and carers of children from Year 7 upwards at Ipswich School.

There are a limited number of places which are offered on a first come, first served basis and a limited number of reduced cost places for families in receipt of Universal Credit. Please contact us for details.
