Mirinae Lee was born and raised in Seoul. Her debut novel, 8 Lives of a Century-Old Trickster came out in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and translations will be released in Italy, Spain, Greece, Romania, Denmark, and South Korea. The novel is inspired by a story of her great aunt, one of the oldest women to escape alone from North Korea. Mirinae lives in Hong Kong with her husband and children.

Author Mirinae Lee sits down with Rebecca Brosnan to share insights and background from her debut novel 8 Lives of a Century-Old Trickster inspired by a story of Mirinae’s great aunt, one of the oldest women to escape alone from North Korea. As playful and thought-provoking as it is compelling, as brutal and harrowing as it is achingly poignant and tender, this is a novel about love and war, deceit and betrayal, about identity, storytelling and the trickery required for survival.
