✋ Raise your hand if you love the small, delightful details of Wes Anderson’s cinematic universe.💌 Letters fluttering past in the background. Maps, newspapers, and documents you glimpse for just a moment, yet they still tell the whole story.
Grafill Stavanger invites you to a truly unique weekend in the world of film, with internationally acclaimed graphic prop designer Annie Atkins. The weekend takes place March 6–7, 2026.
Annie Atkins is renowned for her work with graphic props for film and television and has collaborated closely with directors such as Steven Spielberg and Wes Anderson. She designed the map for the latest Indiana Jones film and has created numerous iconic printed worlds that give film narratives depth, credibility, and soul.
In the talk “Making Belief – Real objects for imaginary worlds.” on board MS Sandnes, docked at Vågen harbour in Stavanger, Annie takes us behind the scenes and shows how physical, handmade artefacts — from film props to paper ephemera in children’s books — help fictional worlds feel lived-in, credible, and emotionally real.
The workshops offer participants a hands-on and inspiring introduction to graphic props for film. You will work on ideas and concepts for your own prop collection, based on a well-known story, with research, historical references, and direct feedback throughout. The focus is on storytelling, not finished production.
This is a weekend for everyone who tells stories: designers, illustrators, filmmakers, writers, students, and anyone with a passion for visual storytelling 🤩
