Talk for Health May 2024 Special - Ecstatic Dance

Come get out of your busy minds and get into your bodies!

Join this 'Ecstatic Dance Silent Disco' Special, led by movement expert Iona McNeil.

Dance is a wonderful route to connecting with our inner selves!

We will put on silent disco headsets and dance to a variety of music from multiple genres.

There will be no choreography or steps, just gentle guidance into free movement.

We will guide you into this experience by playing easy movement games, and use light meditation and visualisations to unlock movement.

We will explore ways to move our bodies to get in touch with our feelings, and express ourselves.

The dancing experience is followed by a sharing circle, led by a Talk for Health facilitator.

About Iona:

After leaving her career in Finance, Iona trained in Dance Movement Psychotherapy at Goldsmith’s University of London, and as an Ecstatic Dance Facilitator and DJ. She runs her own Ecstatic Dance event in London called Ecstatic Playground and she is passionate about reconnecting people to their bodies so they can be more of who they truly are.

6.15pm: Silent Disco - Ecstatic Dance

7.15-8pm: Sharing Circles - Talk for Health

The second half of the Special will introduce you to, and give you a chance to experience some of the four key learning areas of Talk for Health:

• Open and truthful talking

• Empathic listening

• Basic counselling skills

• How to set up an ongoing group

After this event, you can go straight into a Talk for Health Café, where you will learn peer counselling skills and get plenty of space to talk and get/give support. You can also sign up to the Full 4-day Talk for Health Peer Counselling Programme for a deeper therapeutic and skills-building experience.
