About this Event

This is an in-person Talk and Listen Group

  • It takes place in the Public Meeting Room, which is up the stairs/lift at Bristol Central Library, adjacent to the computer room, above the cafe (if you can't find it, just ask a member of staff!)
  • It is free. No booking necessary
  • All men are welcome (including trans men.) Paticipants must be 18+
  • This is a partnership between Bristol Libraries and Talk Club. It is facilitated by a Talk Club Captain (either a TC volunteer or a library staff member who has received the TC training, depending on availability)
  • Please get in touch if you have any questions or additional access needs

WHAT IS A TALK & LISTEN GROUP?

A Talk & Listen group is a peer to peer talking group run by volunteers we call Captains. We train Captains to facilitate groups in communities across the UK.

These groups are held in person or online. In person meetings are held wherever men are – gyms, pubs, local cafe’s, libraries… in safe and quiet spaces so men can talk and listen using the Talk Club sharing model which starts with ‘How are you? Out of 10?’. This simple question helps men to put a number on how they feel, (1 being rock bottom and 10 being on top of the world) then trying to explain why.

Depending on the number of men attending, sessions last a maximum of two hours. Groups meet at different times, days and frequencies depending on the Captain and availability of space in the community.
