SOLD OUT! Thank you for your support.
David Woodman's highly acclaimed new biography of Athelstan - published in September to coincide with the 1100th anniversary of Athelstan's coronation - is receiving widespread attention. We are very pleased David has agreed to come to Malmesbury to speak about 'Athelstan and the Birth of a Kingdom'. It will an enthralling discussion of England's founder king whose achievements in 927 shaped Britain as we know it.
David is Professor and Fellow in History at Robinson College, University of Cambridge and one of the today's leading historians of the early medieval period.
This talk is being jointly presented by Athelstan 1100, Athelstan Museum and Malmesbury's Wessex Week team with the support of Barn Owl Books and Princeton University Press.
David will be happy to sign copies of his book 'The First King of England - Athelstan and the Birth of a Kingdom' at the talk.
