Independent readers can come practice reading aloud with a furry pal. A friendly, well-trained therapy dog from Caring Canines will give elementary aged readers an opportunity to improve their literacy skills by sharing stories aloud. The dog's non-judgmental presence and silent appreciation for the written word paves the way for reading success and provides a healthy boost of confidence. Bring your own book or use a library book! This program is intended for elementary aged children who can practice reading independently. It takes place on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month.
Time to read with the dog is assigned on a first come basis, starting 10 minutes before the event start time. Each reader will have a limited amount of time to read, and time slots may be limited.
