About this Event
Tale of the Three Jewels | Film Screening & Discussion
Come join us at a rare screening of director Michel Khleifi's 1995 film Tale of the Three Jewels, a heartfelt tribute to Gaza’s children and the first feature length movie filmed in Gaza. Film running time is 1hr 52m.
The plot follows Yussef, a boy growing up amid the First Intifada, as he embarks on a dangerous journey after crossing paths with the enigmatic Aida. Blending elements of magic and folklore with an unflinching look at the injustices endured by Gaza’s people living under occupation, Khleifi’s film stands as both a testament to resilience and a poignant record of the hardships faced by Gaza’s children.
Following the film, members of the Strawberry Fields Collective will lead a discussion on art and resistance, themes of the film, and how we maintain hope and action.
Fundraising: Proceeds of ticket sales go to the Welfare Association's "Appeal for Gaza's Orphans' Futures". We are fundraising to sponsor a second child in 2025, as a collective we are committed to sponsoring two children a year, please help us reach this goal!
