This TaiChi Class is based on TaiChi for Arthritis, developed by Dr Paul Lam. It is based on Sun style TaiChi, which is more gentle to the joints than other styles of TaiChi. These movements can be modified in many ways to accommodate physical limitations while still providing the benefits of TaiChi.
The movements are performed slowly and with intention. Each movement is broken down into its components for teaching, before being performed in its entirety. Dr. Lam's teaching pattern is watch me, follow me show me. A meditative movement that seeks to unite mind, body and breath, TaiChi for Arthritis is a very accessible practice. To learn the form will take a 4-6 week commitment. Non slip socks are advised.
Class with end with a grounding gong meditation.
