Tafelmusik Chamber Music Series
Tafelmusik, the world-renowned period orchestra returns to Villa Charities with three unique chamber music performances.
Played on period instruments, these concerts feature classical music from the 17th to 19th centuries, each drawing inspiration from different themes. From the creativity of baroque women to ‘amusing’ compositions of Beethoven and Rossini, to music heard in taverns and country fairs, each concert brings a fresh perspective to historically informed performances.
Experience yourself what makes Tafelmusik a musical powerhouse, known for thrilling and delighting audiences with their dynamic live performances
Chamber 3 - Folk Baroque
• Tuesday, June 25, 7:00 - 8:15pm
While the court and the church were busy commissioning and publishing the well-known works of the traditional baroque canon, in the cafés, taverns, and country fairs, dance music and traditional tunes were the music of the day. Our celebration of “folk baroque” takes us from the British Isles to Italy to northern Europe—and from France to New France, featuring music that migrated across the Atlantic and remain part of the Québecois folk tradition today.
