-Rhythms of Resilience Workshop at 2:30 p.m.
Explore how global cultures have embraced rhythm and dance to sustain themselves in times of challenge and to infuse joy under any circumstances. Join percussionist-scholar Antonio Gomez and folklorico dance artists Mariana Olivas and Jessica Grossman for a hands-on (and feet-on) session of music making and dance.

Mexican son jarocho
Aztec dance
Afro-Peruvian music
Brazilian capoeira

Tacoma Reads is a literacy program series presented in partnership by the City of Tacoma's Mayor's Office and Tacoma Public Library. The theme of Tacoma Reads 2024 is Rhythms of Resilience, and we invite readers of all ages to explore this theme by reading the book selected for their age group, attending curated programs, and engaging in discussion.
